Drainage mats from cross-linked polyethylene foam waste.

The RECYDREN/RECYMAT project is the result of the desire to find, on one hand, an industrial application for waste from the manufacture of swimming pool floats and gym and camping mats and, on the other, to introduce on to the market a blanket for drainage and shock absorption in flexible flooring.

The industrial process for the manufacture of a range of flexible drainage mats.

The manufacturing process used has consisted of shredding the waste, followed by mixing it with a small quantity of PU resin and pressing it in a hot plate press to produce blocks that were then laminated to obtain blankets of different thicknesses and densities.
