“ CIRC4Life : A circular economy approach for lifecycles of products and services” is a project to create an implement new business models based on the circular economy, in order to develop sustainable products and services throughout their value and supply chains.
Designing new business models.
Within the framework of the project, we will work to design three specific circular economy business models:
- A model to co-create products and services,
- a model of sustainable consumption to analyze the sustainability of the product throughout its life,
- a collaborative recycling and reuse model.
These business models that have been developed during the project will be applied particularly to electronic tablets that are no longer used. The objective will be to involve as many actors as possible in the value and supply chain: users, producers, researchers and civil society.
Electronic tablets have been considered a challenge for the CIRC4Life.
Electronic tablets are considered the main waste among the so-called “electronic treasure”, hidden in consumers’ homes.
This equipment is compact, usually expensive, difficult to dismantle, and does not come to collection points as waste. So, recycling plants are obliged to remove the batteries, which makes it difficult to prepare all the components for a second life due to the difficulty in dismantling the equipment. CIRC4Life will address these difficulties during its development.
Publicity.
The project also consists of awareness-raising work that will be carried out in three schools in the Basque Country.
Participants.
Indumetal Recycling, the national leader in innovation in the integrated management of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE), in one of the 17 bodies that participate in this project carried out by eight European countries. ZICLA is working with Indumetal Recycling to fulfil the project.
Financing.
The project is funded by the European Commission through the H2020 program.
